Christa Kimble

“Engaging in the visceral experience of painting has been a form of meditation throughout my life.

I create atmospheric, gestural, abstract paintings. My pieces are a physical representation of non-physical experience, like thought pattern or meditation. My abstract work hints at viewing a landscape, taking the most basic natural forms and turning them into hauntingly beautiful and organic works. Works can be seen as microscopic or cosmic in scale.

Using thin layers of acrylic paint on canvas, washes of color, and intuitive marks, the canvas is tipped and angled, allowing the water and pigments to interact and disperse. Solid forms disintegrate intor formlessness.

My work has been described as transcendent, etherial, and calming.”
